To grow, you need solid roots.
If you have already read the story of Naturhotel Rainer, you will know that there is a family behind our hotel. A family with a deep love for nature and a desire to follow its rules.
To grow, you need solid roots.
If you have already read the story of Naturhotel Rainer, you will know that there is a family behind our hotel. A family with a deep love for nature and a desire to follow its rules.
'For me, true gourmet cuisine tastes like nature'.
He is the creator. His ideas for sustainability and the extraordinary creations of his kitchen flow as freely as the mountain stream beside the hotel.
Hannes, the son, served his apprenticeship at the Romantikhotel Stafler in Campo di Trens and then honed his culinary arts at home and abroad in highly renowned restaurants and hotels. He prepared dishes for the most diverse occasions. One of the 'top' moments was when he had the honour of cooking for former Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber at a state reception in Canada.
Continuing education, including a sommelier course and training in hotel management, gave him a wealth of knowledge, on the strength of which he returned to his parents' hotel and now runs Naturhotel Rainer together with his wife Kathrin. By the way, Hannes is also a certified cycling and hiking guide (yes, 'versatile' is his middle name...).
"I fill my lungs with nature at every breath.”
What would Naturhotel Rainer be without our 'notepad queen'? Like Hannes, Kathrin also churns out ideas at full speed and supports him in the areas of marketing, design and planning.
With the creative mind of an advertising graphic designer by training, Kathrin makes sure that even the details in the hotel are perfect and that the guests' stay is an all-round nature-based experience. Newsletters, price lists and the objects in the pine rooms all bear the signature of Kathrin.
Thanks to further education as a wellness trainer, Kathrin also has an overview of the entire wellness sector and can use this background in her daily work. But that's not all: in addition to running the hotel, she also looks after her four children together with Hannes.
"I like to put all my energy into the hotel and the family.”
Every family-run hotel needs a house soul - and we have one. Marialuise holds the family and the entire team together and is hospitality in the flesh.
Deeply attached to her homeland, South Tyrol, Marialuise brings a sense of place to Naturhotel Rainer and shows the beauty of the landscape to guests during hikes to the Ontrattalm and on snowshoe hikes. Up there, and in her presence, stress and hectic paces give way to peace and contentment. You can relax and breathe deeply.
Marialuise also works at the reception and service desk and welcomes all our guests with open arms.
"I find my inner peace in nature and while hiking in South Tyrol.”
He knows all the secret places of Val di Giovo, and together with his wife Marialuise, he shows them to guests on hikes (also on snowshoes).
Hans knows what it means to be practical and determined. Born on the 'Gassgut' farm into a large family - 10 children - he learnt to work on the farm, in the forest and on the mountain pastures at an early age. Due to his father's illness, at the age of 23 he already had to take over the running of the farm, next to which first Hotel Rainer and then the present Naturhotel were built.
When he is not accompanying our guests on hikes, Hans is hunting or - in the summer, for example - on our alpine pasture every day to keep it tidy and to look after the farm animals.
